While it may not be dyed-in-the-wool fact, I'd be willing to put money on the notion that every serious illustrator has fantasized about creating comics. As I am certainly no exception to the rule, here is a collection of self-published comics and sequential pieces that I have used as a forum to get me where I am today. This page includes both old and new works. |

During my High School Years, I endured the same crap and angst that every student feels. I was not popular, I was not a jock, I wasn't even a nerd. I was just that guy that you see in the yearbook when everyone is exchanging signatures and ask your friends, "Who is this guy? I've never seen him before..." I was the "Nobody Loner" that would easily hide in any crowd, which afforded me every opportunity to watch and observe everyone else.
Girlfriendless at the time, I longed for nothing more than a relationship, and in perfect, self-defeatest form, I would fall madly in love (scary love) with the most unattainable girls I could find. As an artist, this mindset would usually fester into some form of visual poetry that first reared itself as the following comic:
"Axis of Conflict", while not obvious, is a story about emotional escape and the tether that always pulls you back down the second you think you're finally free. Certainly not the only Scaley creature I've ever created, Shellback, the protagonist, is by far the oldest. He first debuted in another comic entitled "The Reptilian Two" way back in 1989, and AOC is a continuation of that character. His riding mate, Turntail, is just an innocent bystander who was pulled into the war between Shellback and his powerful rival, Sharptooh...

FEAR NOT THE RAIN
Issue 00 Published December, 1998 Print Run: 330
>> DOWNLOAD THE .PDF FOR FREE*
*Comics may be downloaded in .PDF format for free from this site, provided that the story, artwork, format, or original file remain unmodified from their original state. Hardcopies may be purchased for $3.25 plus shipping & handling directly from KrossBreeder. Simply e-mail him to request a copy.
This piece is short and sweet. Just three pages, "Fear Not The Rain" was a story that required far more time than I was ever able to give it. It first appeared as a very confusing epilogue at the end of the published version of "Axis of Conflict", although it takes place in a time many years after.
The story is mostly emotional, and contains very little action, as comics go. I completed this piece as an afterthought to AOC after I finally realized that the girls I was chasing would in fact never be mine.
Shellback appears again as the rain-soaked and philosophical loner who has once again found himself at the brunt of an argument. Although his pain is loud and obvious, it is the smoldering pain of the observing child that is always overlooked. This is just as much a recollection of my parent's divorce as it is symbolic of the death of a small piece of me.

VORTICELLA: FEVER DREAMS
Issue 01 Self-Promotion October, 2001 Print Run: 12
"Vorticella" describes a particular kind of virus. While I didn't bother to discover what the virus causes, it was enough to encapsulate my point, which in this case was a personal view of the September 11th attacks on the American World Trade Center. At the time this was created, the world was mostly still in shock and no real social opinion was obvious outside of immense fear. Within weeks of the these travesties, people were already marketing the attacks and perpetuating the very thing the terrorist-culprits were advocating against: Commercialism.
I received an email in early October of 2001 that warned against using any public bathrooms in any major city because it had been discovered that alligators and other creatures were to be used by terrorists to attack victims. While a very funny throwback to the 1980's prank-scare, the timing couldn't have been worse and it in fact spurred on the immense paranoia that had been growing ever since 9/11.
In this story, Shellback has grown up and looks an awful lot like I did at this time; very Gothic and rigid. The human fellow in this story is my favorite instructor at the time, Gil. You will also note that these pages are rendered a bit surreally, which is left-over from the "Digital Angst" Series. The distorted feel to things also aids the feeling of uneasiness, almost paranoia, and helps the viewer extend their senses of belief.

For more information on how you can become a part of this story, read on!
,... Follow along as the news develops!
In the meantime, feel free to email me or enter one of the many Contests and Entry Calls that I have planned for this project! Currently, I am running a Call for Entries for furs who are interested in appearing in the backgrounds and/or spontaneous functions as they occur through-out the story. Read Below to learn more...
